Finding the Fit
The first phone call establishes trust and instills confidence that right fit can provide you with the best guidance toward the level and type of treatment that will meet your needs and fit your time and cost framework. We share our expertise, experience and education, and how these support you in connecting with resources that are aligned with your needs.
The communication process continues throughout treatment, as we advocate for appropriate client care, referent and family communication, and collaborative discharge planning with all those we engage to be a part of your treatment team prior to admission, throughout treatment and your return and aftercare support.
The goal of assessment is to identify the focus of your needs for health and healing. That may be a referral to a local therapist or a collaborative therapy group, and may include individual, group, and/or family therapy. Another option might be individualized intensive treatment by a vetted therapist, or a short-term intensive that reoccurs regularly in different locations throughout the country or immediate referral to residential treatment or PHP (Partial hospitalization, a lower level of care than residential, which allows more freedom).
Together We Will Discuss
1
We ask, “What is the presenting problem?”
This question lets us know why you are calling today. Perhaps the frustration of unresolved issues, the exacerbation of symptoms, the elevation of presenting mental health (depression or anxiety) or addiction issues, or the chaos of life stressors have become unmanageable.
2
We talk about how you got here.
We do not offer therapy; we help you identify childhood or adult experiences that may have seemed unrelated, that caused attachment wounds or trauma. Often, addictive thinking and behavior show up as a response to life stressors; they may be protective or self-medicating strategies of survival. They are unconscious protective strategies that allow a person who is in pain to keep going. The type of treatment we recommend will address the underlying pain as well as the strategies to mitigate it.
3
We ask questions about logistics.
Having a transparent conversation like this can truly be the first step of healing because the individual or family member is admitting to and recognizing the efforts they have expended to cope with the yet-unresolved issues. Additionally, the empathic professional witnessing and affirming that admission often serves as a catalyst to hope and change
4
We find the right fit.
After our initial assessment, we introduce a few vetted referral options into the dialogue. These are selected for you based on the focus of the treatment they provide, the clinical excellence of their programming, the caliber of staff, the overall business practices, and client experience. There are several benchmarks of excellence to look at when vetting a treatment resource, which include:
- Communication consent
- Follow-through on commitments
- Setting of appropriate expectations
- Management of logistics (financial contract, flights, transport)
- Referent and family reports
- Effectiveness of treatment
We have built a collaborative community of trusted professionals who can assist in creating treatment teams prior to, during, and post treatment to address a person’s core issues and offer a healing experience that leads to a transformation from surviving to thriving.

We believe that addiction and co-occurring mental health issues are often symptomatic expressions of core traumatic experiences and attachment wounding.
We work with treatment programs that address and mitigate the symptoms while discovering the core drivers and issues for treatment and healing.

Assessment
In our initial conversation, we work to establish trust and develop a rapport in which you feel safe to share personal information with us. We are bound by HIPPA Confidentiality Laws and will never share your information with anyone other than treatment providers from whom we are seeking service for you. We collaborate with your trusted connections: referring therapist, family member, interventionist, or initial point of contact to understand the context of the issues you are calling about. If you are calling for yourself, at some point we may ask to talk with someone you trust to provide more information – a spouse, partner, parent or friend.
Referral
Together, we evaluate your needs in light of our trusted resources and the information we have gathered from you. You are an integral part of the entire process. No one can decide for you. We help you see, understand, and discern the best treatment fit to address and heal your core needs.
Placement
We share the scope of treatment with you and our recommendations for healing. When you are ready to make a decision, we offer a concierge hand-off to the Admission Director of the treatment center you have decided upon. They work with you to handle the financials, contract, travel, logistics of transport and what to bring with you.
